Dearne Valley Walking Group was formed in April 2009 by Terence Rowland, originally as a Facebook group to show his family and friends about his walking exploits.

This has since grown into an independent walking group which is now open to everyone.

DVWG organises walks mainly in South Yorkshire & Peak District on a regular basis for our participants and their families. Some of our walks are further afield, eg. Snowdonia and the Lake District.
However, to celebrate our 10th birthday, we shall be keeping things closer to home.  We plan on hosting a Walking Festival - a series of 7 walks over the Easter week in 2019. We aim to showcase the wonderful walking we have here on our doorsteps, culminating in a social gathering in celebration of our group's milestone.

Details will become available soon, so keep an eye on this site.

We will be charging a nominal fee for participation and there will be various fundraising activities.  Since DVWG is a non-profit organisation, the festival will be held in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance - a charity, I'm sure you'll agree is pertinent to all outdoor enthusiasts.

We are extremely grateful to our sponsors both for their support of the group over our ten years of existence and for their generous patronage of our festival.
